Formed in 2003, The Wood Floors are an alternative
rock band that has its roots formed in the
tradition of The Afghan Whigs, The Replacements,
and Guided By Voices, among others.
Singer/Songwriter/Producer, Chris Howe and
Drummer, Eric Scheiner were two thirds of the
Boston based band Laughingstock during the mid
90`s with live appearances at Mama Kin`s, The
Causeway, The Ratt, CBGB`s, Kendall Cafe, Kirkland
Cafe, The Red Square, and Jacque`s, among others.
As the 90`s faded so did Laughingstock.
In the early 2000`s they reunited again for a
short lived band called The 3971`s which featured
early versions of songs that later made
appearances in The Wood Floors` catalog such as
"Mistreated Girls" from 2006`s "Enfant Terrible"
and "The End Of It All" from 2004`s "For
Rodriguez".
The first two Floors` releases featured short
post-punk songs in the tradition of The
Replacement`s early material, by the time the band
recorded their third release "Violence" the focus
went to creating material on the spot... no
rehearsals, or even songs, for that matter. The
following release "Knowing Girls" was recorded in
the same manner. In 2004 and 2005 the band
released "For Rodriguez", "Girls Inc." and
"Divorce Sale" all of which continued the band`s
knack for song and melody.
Between 2006 and 2008 the band solidified itself
with the strong releases "These Streets Won`t Lead
You Home", "Dry White Heat", "The Damage Is
Already Done", and arguably their career best
"Catwalks In The Coliseum". Never afraid to stray
into bizarre territory, they also released off the
cuff gems like "Real Pig" and "Every Act Of
Pleasure". Currently the band is readying their
next release which is set for release in the
spring of 2010.
