Larry and the Bluescasters is a blues band featuring Larry Lusignan, also of the band The Moes (formerly The Swanky Moes) on guitar and vocals, Michael "Squid" Rush on bass, and either Glenn Rogers or Russell Lane on drums. They play as a trio or four-piece band depending on the venue. The full band generally features Mark Longo on keyboards, and/or Brad Kohl on saxophone. They also occasionally appear as an acoustic duo called "The Twocasters".
The band was formed in the summer of 1999, and released their all-original debut CD, The Same
Fifty in October of 2003. The CD received regular play in France and Australia. You can request it on Sundays on WBOS (92.9 FM) by calling Holly Harris, the host of "Blues on Sunday" every Sunday night from 9pm-midnight. Says Jim Bianchine of The Daily Item:
"When Larry and the Bluescasters tear into the Blues and pay homage to the genre`s greats, they come together with a shared passion for the music, each with great technique and are a testament to true Blues."
As the band has gained momentum, they have continually worked on the evolution of their sound, the development of new material, and establishing their presence on the blues circuit.
The repertoire includes a danceable mix of original and traditional music, featuring the works of Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Magic Sam, and many more of the greats. Be sure to check them out!
