The Ben Shippee Band, an original rock group from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is fast becoming one of the region's premiere live acts. On stage, the band excites the crowd with a spontaneous energy that is sure to get things moving. The music itself is infectious - a powerful blend of blues, southern rock, funk, and elements of jazz, creating a truly unique sound. The group consists of four individuals with distinct personalities and influences, with a combined 20-plus years of live performance experience. Dan Desmarais (Keys, Vocals), who studied music theory and composition throughout college, has brought a wide range of musical styles to the band from classical to modern rock. Justin Bigelow (Drums, Vocals), brings an instinctual rhythmic sense that sets fire to the drums, also contributes with a vocal sophistication in his harmony lines. Sam Ostrow (Bass), the newest member to the band has recently re-located to the area. His nimble lines and thunderous low end provide a fresh new sound to the mix. Last there is Ben (Lead Vocals and Guitar), a soulful acoustic guitarist, and the songwriting talent within, who is the namesake of the band. The Ben Shippee Band has been performing regularly in the Portsmouth area and around New England.
