Stories of Mary is an original female pop rock duo from Ayer, Massachusetts with a style that has been described as catchy with melodic sultry vocals. Our songs are simple and fun to listen to with sassy but humorous lyrics. Paula Vivier, vocalist/guitar and Debbie Spaulding, bass came up with the idea for a band and it's name in January 2001 after being inspired by Debbie's 80 year old grandmother, Mary telling us crazy stories about her strange and adventurous childhood. Well not all of our songs are written about "Stories of Mary" but they are all a creative collaboration of Paula and Debbie's teamwork as a duo. After a short time being online their song "Sister Rosalita" earned them a spot as August 2001 MWL featured artist of the month. Hot Cherry records had this to say "A cool 2-woman Pop Rock duo that hails from Massachusetts with a unique and interesting alternative/grungy kind of music that is sweet and raw at the same time" Their influences include Liz Phair, Blondie, No Doubt and Sheryl Crow For more info on Stories of Mary check out their website http://www.storiesofmary.com To buy a CD or hear their tunes check out http://www.mp3.com/stories_of_mary
