The year: 1984. Van Halen's album '1984' has just come out (coincidentally enough), and Diamond Dave is on top. Somewhere along the way, he has a fling with some Somervillian woman, who, in turn, produces the prodigy known to us all as Hope Roth. Until I realized that to be 18, '1984' would have had to have been released in 1982. Dammit.
