The Allagash4's sound is truly unique. With machine-gun style vocals reminiscent of Jamaican dancehall music P-Funk influenced bass grooves, guitar that is torn between Vernon Reid and Johnny Marr, tenor sax a la Illinois Jacquet, and drums that span from trip hop loops to a vintage New Orleans feel, you've never heard anything as varied stylistically and yet, concentrically woven together.
The band takes their name from the misadventures of four men who were abducted by aliens while camping in the Maine wilderness. With a sound that some say is the product of stolen alien technology, it's a perfect match. The band members are well-traveled musicians whose individual past playing experiences literally span the globe and whose album credits include The Bosstones, ProPain, The Tribulations, John Brown's Body and Half-Pint.
