EVENT is a cutting edge hard rock band from New England. The band was formed out of an ensemble at Berklee College of Music in 1996. The band recorded their first album "Electric Skies" in 1997 and licensed the debut in 1998 in Japan, Europe, and South America. The band has a wide variety of influences that create a unique, sophisticated, driving sound. Over Christmas of 1999 the band began recording their sophomore release "Human Condition." EVENT has teamed up with Jim Pitulski and Inside Out Music America for the album's United States release in early 2001. Guitarist Shaun Michaud provides the band with the core of its unique blend of music. He is not only the main songwriter but the engineer and producer also. Shaun's influences range from Trent Reznor and Nine inch Nails to Steve Vai and Garbage. He is currently on staff at Berklee as a guitar instructor and was on the road in 2001 with Fates Warning as their second guitarist and keyboard player. Shaun has produced and engineered two records for female guitarist Jaye Foucher and continues to work as a recording engineer in the North east. Drummer Matt Scurfield provides a back drop of powerful rhythms for EVENT. His inspiration coming from drummers like Mike Mangini and Dave Dicenso and bands like Queensryche and Tool. Matt recorded with Joe Stump on his upcoming release "Sacred Ground" and has performed with Joe as an opener for such acts as Savatage, Steve Vai, and Robin Trower. He performed bus top concerts with Sonic Joyride in 1999 and toured the east coast with Chad Hollister in 2001. Matt performed on the latest release from Jaye Foucher and has been performing live with her including the 2000and 2001 Winter NAMM shows in California. Bassist Jay Rigney effortlessly handles the driving low end for the band. His influences of Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden give his bass lines a characteristic twist. Jay has recorded albums with Joe Stump including "Rapid Fire Rondo" and "Sacred Ground" and Mike Vescera's "Animation" (Yngwie Malmsteen, Loudness). Jay has done demonstrations for Sony effects processors at NAMM and 'S trade shows and is currently working on a comprehensive instructional book for five and six string bass. Vocalist Dave Deluco gives the band its unique vocal sound. His style a mix of traits derived from Kings X and Faith No More. Dave contributes his unique point of view to the band's music through his lyrics and expression. He is a veteran of the live scene and has performed with numerous acts around New England for 10 years. Dave and Matt have performed in bands together since they were 15 and 16 years old, growing up just miles apart. EVENT combines hard guitar driven riffs with elements of techno loops and some intricate passages to satisfy the tastes of any hard rock listener.
