Torch-bearers of the disco-folk revolution, The Humming dazzle audiences with its fluid blend of rock, funk, folk, and jazz. The Boston Herald recently gave The Humming's debut album, "Hello Cannonball," 3 1/2 stars, declaring it "an intelligent, pure pop album that rewards repeated listening, whichà qualifies [The] Humming for sainthood." The band has been performing for over 7 years with close to 400 shows beneath the proverbial belt. All four members sing (even the drummer), and it's tough to find better live harmonies than at a Humming show. Live shows feature trombone, flute, didgeridoo, keys, guitars, bass, and percussion. The Humming's sound is intimate, but performances are high energy. Audience members leave shows begging for more, with songs stuck in their brains. The four members of The Humming grew up best friends in Brattleboro, Vermont, learning their instruments together on a covered bridge. The band hails from Boston now and has evolved into a wildly original act, playing clubs, colleges, and private parties up and down the eastern seaboard. You may have seen The Humming at Wetlands, The Elbowroom, The Bitter End, The Lion's Den, CBGB's Gallery, or Arlene Grocery in NYC. The Humming also play Lilli's, Harper's Ferry, The Lizard Lounge, and The Middle East in Boston. If you haven't, you're well advised to see them soon. The Humming will blow you away.
