The BIRN began as an idea in ‘03, started detaching itself from paper in ‘04, had its first pre-recorded broadcast in ’05, its first studios in ‘06 and its real studios in ‘08.
Now the BIRN is broadcasting 60+ weekly shows, almost 24/7, providing the listeners with every imaginable genre. Special interviews and performances from illustrious visitors are broadcasted from our own studio, while live shows from the RedRoom/Cafe 939 and livecasts from the Berklee Performance Center are aired on BIRN’s multiple channels. Our record company, birnCORE, started in Fall of ‘11 to release recordings from the venues above.
Currently we are proud to have a little over 100 DJs on the roster - all of whom are musicians.
