Boston twang-fuzz rockers, Tulsa, are joining forces with The Whigs for a Mid-West Tour beginning February 6th with continued solo dates in March including the KEXP Benefit Show at Neumo's (see the complete list of dates below). After being named by Joe Tangeri on Pitchforks Best of 2007 list, a strong debut on the CMJ charts at #55, and recognition by Boston Phoenix as one of the Top 10 Boston Bands, Tulsa is taking their show on the road to prove they can live up to their critical acclaim. The west coast will be next, when they play from Seattle to SXSW in March.Carter Tanton is both Tulsa's lead singer, and a renowned producer, most recently recognized for his work with Drug Rug. Tulsa released their latest album, I Was Submerged on Park the Van Records, home to bands such as Dog, The Teeth, The Capitol Years, High Strung and many more. As comforting and timeless as their songs essentially are on I Was Submerged, they retain a certain melodic eeriness about them that could leave you feeling unsettled, were they not so impeccably crafted. A dreamy concoction of reverberated vocals and sepulchral guitars layered upon fervent percussion. The most defining touch: perhaps the asymmetrical tones of a Fender Rhodes, which cascade throughout the recordings. Come on out and hear it for yourself when they hit up your town!
